Architectural
Plaster Surfaces &
Fine Art Installations

Studio Peter Varga is a multidisciplinary design and applied finishes studio working across architectural plaster surfaces, site-specific installations, and collectible fine art. The studio collaborates with architects, interior designers, and private clients worldwide on residential, commercial, and hospitality spaces. Its work expands the expressive and structural possibilities of plaster through advanced craftsmanship, material research, and an ongoing dialogue between art and architecture.

About the Studio

We are a family-run, artist-led practice built on long-term collaboration, shared values, and a deep respect for craft, architecture, & design, supported by a close network of trusted collaborators and specialist craftspeople.

Peter Varga, principal artist & founder

Peter Varga is a contemporary artist whose work is shaped by a lifelong immersion in art, architecture, and craft. Raised in a small town in Hungary, he grew up surrounded by the material intelligence of European building traditions, where art, construction, and daily life are deeply intertwined.

Varga’s entry into art was unplanned. As a student, his persistent drawing in class led to detention - yielding a pivotal introduction to a local master fresco painter and initiating nearly a decade of traditional training and mentorship. Varga learned patience, precision, and an attentiveness to surface that continues to shape his work. In parallel, he attended technical school for carpentry and developed hands-on experience in renovation and building practices throughout his career. He later earned a Master’s degree in Architectural Design from the University of Sopron, where he began to explore the structural possibilities of fine plaster as both an artistic and architectural medium. With over 25 years of experience working with plaster, Varga approaches hs practice with a devotion guided by discipline, repetition, and continual refinement, principles closely aligned with Japanese master traditions.

His studio and practice are currently based in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. His work has been exhibited, collected, and commissioned nationally and internationally.

Rachel Varga, STUDIO DIRECTOR & CO-FOUNDER

Also a creative, Rachel’s background spans craft, design, and visual storytelling, grounding the studio in both artistic sensitivity and rigorous execution. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Crafts with a focus on Ceramics, where she developed a deep understanding of material, form, and hands-on making. Following her studies, Rachel worked in product design and development before establishing a freelance career as a set stylist. This work shaped her ability to translate abstract ideas into cohesive visual environments, balancing concept, composition, and logistics at scale.

Rachel and Peter founded the studio together, initially collaborating across disciplines. Peter supported the construction of sets, while Rachel shaped the early organization, design direction, and operational structure of the practice. As the studio grew, Rachel stepped away from set styling to work full-time within the studio, guiding its evolution into a multifaceted, artist-led practice.

Today, Rachel oversees studio operations, client relationships, and long-term strategy. Her role bridges creative vision and execution, ensuring that each project moves forward with clarity, care, and alignment, while building the systems that allow the studio to grow thoughtfully and sustainably.
