About the Series
Inspired by a region in Hungary, historically known for being a flat grassland inhabited by bandits and shepherds - banditák, betyárok, csikósok és pásztorok. Master horsemen with jet black hair and thick mustaches dominated the land - wearing black hats and long, oversized fur coats - subas.
The landscape, textures, and icons that characterize the region are translated into textural plaster in this series - open plains, horses and horsemen, sand, fur, grass, and longhorns.
The folklore, intensity, and mystery are represented through the use of abstracted traditional imagery and rich black pigment.
